The Chancellor, Alistair Darling, told the TUC Congress meeting in Brighton on 9 September that millions of homes will benefit, and thousands of jobs to be created, from Britain becoming a “more energy-efficient society.”
Following the launch of the new manufacturing strategy, Mr Darling called for much more “clean green energy, so that we can tackle climate change.” He argued that this would need “continuous investment, over many years – bringing energy security and creating new jobs.”
