A new Energy Star regulation, agreed between the EU and the USA, came into force in the EU mid-February. The Council Regulation (106/2008) implements the agreement between the EU and the USA on updating the Energy Star programme for the energy efficiency of office equipment. The programme is updated every five years.
The new draft regulation aims at improving the implementation of the Energy Star Programme following consultations with the European Community Energy Star Board. the Energy Star Programme is a tool for coordinating actions to improve energy efficiency which is a major goal of the European energy policy. The amendments introduced by this revision aim to lower the implementation costs for the technologies across the EU.
