Sustainable construction to kickstart regeneration
Categories for this story: UK Practice
Sustainable construction techniques are being used to restore a historic warehouse, thanks to a South West Regional Development Agency
grant of over half a million pounds.

It has awarded £350,000, South Somerset District Council, £250,000 and Somerset County Council, £30,000 to allow the warehouse to be renovated from a state of dereliction to a working building, which will become part of the local economy.

The Grade II listed warehouse, used 250 years ago by Stuckey & Bagehot at Great Bow Yard in Langport on the banks of the River Parrett, will provide a multi-functional space alongside the 12 newly completed eco-homes at the site. The renovation will be in partnership with the Somerset Trust for Sustainable Development and when completed will offer office space for growing businesses, and providing facilities for training and exhibitions.
