UK sustainable energy schemes now have the opportunity to receive recognition for their work thanks to the UK’s leading green energy awards.
The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy will take place in London in 2010 with a combined awards value of £70,000. Entry is free and is open to businesses, charities, local authorities and schools that have made significant CO2 savings through the use of renewable energy or energy efficiency measures, and that demonstrate real social and economic benefits to the local community. The only requirement is that the scheme must be consistently successful for at least one year.
There is individual prize money of up to £20,000 as well as high profile publicity in the UK and across the world. Winners will receive tailored support to take the scheme further and a broadcast quality documentary film will be made to celebrate their work. There will also be opportunities to present the sustainable energy solutions to experts and policy makers.
The deadline for businesses, charities and local authorities expression of interest is 27 October and the deadline for school applications is 26 November.
