Categories for this story: Companies and Bodies, Awards

Environmentally responsible construction companies are about to be rewarded for their efforts in an upcoming awards ceremony.

The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management Awards for Environmental Excellence 2009 will take place at The Dorchester on Park Lane, London on 11 November. The event will be hosted by Dragon’s Den investor Deborah Meaden and will recognise companies that have introduced successful measures to reduce their environmental impact.

Construction companies will be rewarded for their demonstration of environmental excellence in a variety of areas including; the use of sustainable materials and products in construction, site waste minimisation and recycling during demolition and construction.

Steve Lee, chief executive of the CIWM, said: “Construction is one of a number of major sectors that are increasingly linked into the recycling and waste minimisation agenda. The construction industry is working hard to reduce waste, improve sustainability and promote health and safety best practice and it is important to recognise these positive developments.”
