The Government has recently provided the London Borough of Barnet with funding to improve lighting and reduce carbon emissions. Barnet requested funding to replace more than 17,500 street lamps and 3,779 columns in an attempt to improve safety and reduce crime.
The council opted for Stela lighting, a next generation luminaire designed by WRTL that provides a white light capable of reducing CO2 emissions by up to 65% compared to traditional solutions. Stela is manufactured using a large proportion of recycled materials, especially steel and aluminium, and has a 100,000 hour service life with minimal maintenance required.
Richard Bergman, senior lighting engineer with the London Borough of Barnet, said:
“LED lighting was our preferred choice and this product really stood out. The photometric data for Stela provided by WRTL was exceptional and they were able to present very convincing evidence to support our final decision.”
