School gets green extension
Categories for this story: Case Studies

LaRock Construction joined forces with Carbon Logix to construct a £1m green extension for Cundall Manor School near York.

The building, which will include 11 classrooms, sports and changing rooms, a staff area and two science laboratories will use a new efficient insulation system which involves application of insulated concrete forms (ICFs), featherweight polystyrene chunks topped off with cement.

“The green agenda is something that all construction companies are having to think about very carefully, and we are very proud to be delivering such an environmentally responsible project,” said Damian Lawrance, managing director of LaRock Construction. “It’s also great news for the school who will be benefiting from consistently low heating bills in the years to come.”

“This is the first commercial project that we have carried out,” added Graham Gill, director of Carbon Logix, which makes the ICFs.
