AECB has joined three other UK and Irish organisations able to offer a Passivhaus certification service, accredited by the Passivhaus Institut of Darmstadt.

The scheme is based on reducing buildings’ energy demand at source, principally through advanced insulation and air tightness. Currently over 1,000 buildings have been certified in Europe, but only two in the UK.
