The UK Green Building Council’s new chairman is Lend Lease Europe chief executive officer Daniel Labbad who has succeeded Peter Rogers.
Lend Lease was a founder member of UKGBC and Mr Labbad has been on its advisory board since it was launched in 2007. The Australian engineer has held various posts with Lend Lease and established the Hornery Institute which focuses on community development.
“The property and construction industry faces a number of challenges, but none more pressing than sustainability,” he says. “I believe we can and must meet this challenge and do so in a way that leaves the industry a better, more prosperous one as a result. UKGBC is central to this vision and has already established itself in a leadership role. I’m looking forward to building on this and see UKGBC as the most significant single voice, bringing together both Government and industry to drive the progression we need.”
Peter Rogers has chaired the Council since its inception and will remain a director as deputy chairman.
“When we established the Council we said it had to make an immediate impact,” he says. “It has met and exceeded my expectations. I’m proud to have helped steer it to the position it is in today and Dan is the ideal choice for the next part of this journey.”
