The Welsh Assembly Government has announced its own boiler scrappage scheme aimed at the over-60s for 2010-1 and says it expects up to 5,000 households to participate.

It has allocated £2.5m to the scheme for a year and an additional £1.4m to tackle fuel poverty through its home energy efficiency scheme. The scrappage scheme will be available to over-60s with G-rated boilers and participants will receive a £500 voucher towards an A-rated boiler.
