Bonn talks confirmed
Categories for this story: Energy Efficiency, Europe Policy, International

The next round of UN climate change negotiations will take place in Bonn, Germany, on 9-11 April, it has been announced, following on from the Copenhagen talks last December.

The Bonn talks under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will precede the 32nd session of the UNFCCC Convention on 31 May-11 June, and COP 16 in Mexico on 29 November-10 December, two important meetings.

“The decision to intensify the negotiating schedule underlines the commitment by governments to move the negotiations forward towards success in Cancun,” said UNFCCC executive secretary Yvo de Boer, who has announced he is resigning in July.

“This is further strengthened by the fact that the number of countries that have written to the secretariat with their country communications since Copenhagen has now exceeded a landmark 100.”
