Lean construction project
Categories for this story: Energy Efficiency, UK Practice, Design

In response to what it calls a “resurgence” in lean construction, the Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) is producing a guide on the subject.

“The industry and Government has witnessed a resurgence of interest in 'lean' in recent months,” it said. Adding that it has already held two industry consultation meetings which produced support for a guide, which will provide case studies, techniques, processes and resources for lean construction.

Lean construction, according to the Lean Construction Institute, “extends from the objectives of a lean production system – maximise value and minimise waste – to specific techniques and applies them in a new project delivery process.”

For information on the guide, contact Susan Steensma, project manager, on 0207 5493300 or susan.steensma@ciria.org.
