Organic insulation to rival mineral wool
Categories for this story: Energy Efficiency, Materials

A new natural fibre insulation material made from hemp and flax was launched at Ecobuild this month.

The material, called Breathe, has a thermal conductivity of 0.039 W/mK and is highly breathable, non-toxic and non-irritant, according to maker Hemp Technology.

“Being made from organic material doesn’t mean that it lacks the performance of its synthetic equivalents,” said Hemp Technology’s press announcement, explaining that it is durable and that it hopes to rival popular mineral wool insulation.
