The Institution of Civil Engineers is calling for evidence from waste-related companies and bodies to form its State of the Nation inquiry on how to radically change the waste sector.
It is asking people to base their evidence on questions including:
• In an ideal world, what would be the defining characteristics of the UK’s waste and resource management system in 2020, 2030 and 2050?
• How can/should we measure and manage the carbon impact of waste and resource management?
This year the UK’s performance against EU Landfill Directive targets will be reported for the first time, and the revised EU Waste Framework Directive will be transposed into UK law.
The deadline for written evidence is 17 May, and oral evidence sessions will be held on 18-20 May.
