Code 4 in 90% of local authority new build homes
Categories for this story: UK Policy, UK Practice

Communities housing minister John Healey has revealed that 90% of proposals approved under this year’s Local Authority New Build programme are at Code for Sustainable Homes level 4.

Responding in a written answer to independent MP Dai Davies, he added that in 2008-09 funding was allocated through the National Affordable Housing programme to support over 50,000 homes being built to Code level 3 or above. Also, the Social Housing Energy Saving programme is delivering cavity wall insulation in an estimated 108,000 homes.

Mr Healey added that DCLG had a stand at Ecobuild, where he delivered a speech. Several other department officials gave speeches, chaired sessions or were present at the stand to answer questions from visitors.
