The Energy Saving Scotland boiler scrappage scheme, under which householders can claim £400 off the cost of a new boiler, has begun work. It will be limited, however, to 5,000 boilers, but the Scottish Government says this will save 5,000t of carbon dioxide each year.
“Our scrappage scheme will offset the cost of a new energy saving boiler, helping people to live in greener homes which cost less to run,” said energy minister Jim Mather. “This scheme will also provide a stimulus for the heating industry, supporting jobs at this crucial time.”
