The Institution of Chemical Engineers has given Mike Bilio of the Health & Safety Executive an award for his paper on the health and safety implications of constructing pipelines for the emerging technology of carbon capture and storage.
The award was made at a seminar on CCS where the HSE, Environment Agency and Scottish Environment Protection Agency chaired discussions on the technology.
“There’s still a lot to do, but by working together to identify and follow up research issues, HSE, EA and SEPA are ensuring that knowledge gaps are addressed and risks addressed as an integral part of the technology development,” said HSE chair Judith Hackitt.
