China will host a new round of United Nations climate change negotiations ahead of the upcoming conference in Cancun, Mexico, in November, according to a UN environmental secretary.

UN Environment Programme director Achim Steiner reportedly told the China Daily that talks would take place in Tianjin, near Beijing. It is hoped that this will facilitate progress to be made on a global climate treaty in Cancun.
