Ryder Architecture has won planning approval to develop the next phase of Liverpool Science Park.
The site, which is adjacent to the city’s Metropolitan Cathedral, will provide 3,750m2 of fully serviced office and lab facilities, spanning across 4 floors.
A public and private funding package is currently being put together, which is expected to deliver the facility by March 2011. The project hopes to have a contractor on board early next year once funding has been secured. Work is expected to finish late 2012.
Gareth Callen, project architect for Ryder Architecture said: "It’s a sensitive site and the building has been carefully designed and articulated to respond to the visual impact of the Metropolitan Cathedral and the open parkland to the north, and to create a bold and appealing frontage along Great Orford Street. The building will have a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating in line with the park’s earlier developments."
Liverpool Science Park was established in 2006, and is renowned as the UK’s fastest growing science parks.
It is a joint venture between two of the city’s universities, Liverpool John Moores and University of Liverpool, and Liverpool City Council.
