Friends of the Earth has welcomed the 1 August introduction of the much derided home information packs and energy performance certificates but says the scheme must be urgently expanded to all homes. It says measures should be included in the pre-budget report to encourage home owners to act on the information provided in the certificates to make their homes more energy-efficient.

“The Government must do more to help householders save energy and cut emissions,” said campaigner Dave Timms.
