New appointment at Merseyside energy training centre
Categories for this story: Companies and Bodies

The Green Energy Training Centre in Merseyside has appointed Joe Martin to drive the business development of the centre.

Mr Martin has previously worked for Envirolink Northwest, and for Lancashire Economic Partnership as the climate change programme manager. He has 17 years experience in economic and low carbon policy including energy, climate change and business advice on renewables.

He said: “There is still a lack of knowledge and understanding about renewable energy and how it works, that we are addressing at the GETC.” The £280,000 centre, based in Bromborough, is a partnership between Stiebel Eltron, Scientiam and the Skills Funding Agency.

“With the Government’s Feed-in Tariff for solar PV installations and the introduction of the Renewable Heat Incentive this summer for heat pumps, there is an increasing demand for renewable energy. Therefore it is essential that we have a skilled workforce ready and able to take advantage of the opportunities in the green sector.”
