Chinese rooftop solar project
Categories for this story: Case Studies

A 10.8MW on-grid rooftop solar project has been signed in China, and is expected to generate around 10m kWh.

Trendar Solar, a subsidiary of the China Technology Development Group Corporation (CTDVC) and Goldpoly (Quanzhou) Science and Technology Industry Co. signed the contract on 12 October. The total construction cost is forecast as RMB164m.

China’s Ministry of Finance has granted a subsidy of RMB97.2m for the project, under the Golden Sun programme.

The project will cover a 100,000 square meter area on the rooftop space at Goldpoly’s facility in Jinjiang. When completed, the project is expected to displace 10,000 metric tonnes of CO2.

“Fujian is blessed with abundant solar radiation and the Goldpoly rooftop project has benefitted from Chinas’ Twelfth Five Years Plan,” said Alan Li, CTDC’s chairman of the board and CEO. “We are excited about the renewable energy project, as this is CTDC’s first utility-scale rooftop solar project in China and it is a beginning for us to enter into China’s rooftop solar market.”
