BRE and the International Passivhaus Association have joined together and launched a competition to design two Passivhaus homes on site at the BRE Innovation Parks in Watford and Scotland.
The competition aims to prove that Passivhaus is an affordable method in the construction of private and social housing.
“The competition is a great chance for Passivhaus enthusiasts to demonstrate their knowledge by creating affordable ultra-low energy homes that are great to live in,” said Kym Mead, Passivhaus consultant at BRE.
Applicants are invited to design a semi-detached home for the Watford park that meets a minimum of Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes and/or a detached Passivhaus for the Scotland park.
The winner will be announced on 31 January 2012. Deadline for applications in 30 November 2011.
