The clause in the recent Feed-in Tariff consultation which specifies that consumers may only apply for Feed-in Tariffs if their home is energy efficient enough is an “extra hurdle” for consumers.
That is according to energy equipment seller Myriad CEG Power which is concerned customer purchases will be affected.
On launching the FITs consultation this month, energy minister Greg Barker announced plans for potential FITs customers to have a minimum home efficiency rating of ‘D’ before installing solar panels.
Phil McVan, managing director of Myriad CEG Power said: “The implementation of the new regime will undoubtedly change the landscape of customer purchases.
“Linking eligibility to the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) regime places an extra hurdle in front of potential customers who will now have to ensure their energy efficiency before qualifying for financial support.”
